Harlequins is excited to announce today (Thursday 16th February) that it will make its maiden appearance in the Beachcomber World Club 10s tournament this June.
Taking place at the Anjalay Stadium, Mauritius, the tournament will be broadcast around the world as it takes place on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th June.
The World Club 10s, now in its third year, sees eight teams of ten players competing. The matches consist of ten minute halves, rolling substitutions, and five-man scrums.
Five of the eight teams have already been confirmed, with Harlequins competing alongside Saracens, the Toyota Cheetahs, the barbarian style Africa Pacific Dragons, and Pyrenees Rugby.
Commenting on the news Tony Diprose, Global Development Director of Harlequins, said: “We are really excited to be making our World Club 10s debut this summer and are grateful for the invitation to this exciting annual tournament to play against some of the best club sides in the world.
“Across its 150-year history, Harlequins has been a very famous touring side and we are delighted to carry on this tradition by expanding our global footprint and introducing our famous quartered shirt to Mauritius.”
Competing in the Mauritian tournament adds to Harlequins’ illustrious touring locations in recent years which includes Abu Dhabi, Philadelphia, Kolkata, Bermuda and San Francisco.
