Harlequins Skills and Off the Ball Coach Nick Evans on why The Stoop is the perfect place to bring your family in 2019/20
As a Club, we pride ourselves on offering the best sports experience for children and families in south west London. The Stoop is the perfect place to bring kids on a matchday, with its array of exciting, child-friendly activities around the ground, combined with the first-class rugby action on the pitch.
This philosophy is also shared by our elite players and coaches. Skills and Off the Ball specialist, and recent Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame inductee, Nick Evans believes that the Club provides the perfect environment for families, especially those who have to travel long distances: “Harlequins is very much a family-based club. I started bringing my kids here when they were very young, and they have always enjoyed the atmosphere at the ground.
“The environment in the stadium on a matchday always allows for an enjoyable occasion. For me, a huge attraction for kids is the chance of getting pitchside to meet the players. When I was growing up in New Zealand, we were allowed to do that and some of my first experiences of the game involved being able to get on the field and try to re-create what you’ve seen from the stands.
“The Stoop is a great place to watch rugby. The work that the staff do to make everyone feel welcome is relentless. My parents have come over here a few times and they have always remarked on how accommodating The Club was and the incredible noise from the crowd, especially in the big matches against our rivals.
“The crowd are like your 16th man, and they really help get you through. Especially now being on the sidelines, the supporters often are the best way to get a message to the players on the field and it really helps drive them forwards”.
