Quins head to Franklin’s Gardens to play their London rivals in a re-run of last year’s final on Saturday 27th April (kick-off: 17:45)
Following their 26-10 victory against Loughborough Lightning at The Stoop on Sunday afternoon, Harlequins Ladies guaranteed their place in their second consecutive Tyrrells Premier 15s final.
A first-half double from Number Eight Jade Konkel and further scores from Vickii Cornborough and Leanne Riley were enough to give Quins the win on a cold Sunday afternoon in South West London.
In the final, the squad will play title-holders Saracens Women who defeated Wasps FC Ladies in the first semi-final of the weekend at Allianz Park on Saturday (31-13).
This year’s match is a replay of the 2018 final played at Ealing Trailfinders where Saracens got the better of Quins in an intense and muscular affair, 24-20.
In terms of the 2018/19 regular season campaign, honours were shared between the two sides, with Harlequins winning at The Stoop 20 points to 17 in Round 6 and Saracens putting together a dramatic comeback at Allianz Park 31-27 in Round 14.
In total, there is likely to be over 20 international players taking to the field between the two sides, exhibiting the best of women’s elite rugby in this country.
Harlequins Ladies Captain Rachael Burford said on reaching the final: “I’m really proud of the whole squad. The semi-final against Loughborough was a match that took 80 minutes to win, and I’m so pleased that we’ve made it.
“At the beginning of the season, we set ourselves a goal to finish in the top four and give us the best chance possible to get back into that final and we’ve done that.”
Harlequins Ladies Co-Head Coach Gary Street added: “It’s been a long season but I believe that the two best sides in the league are in this final.
“I’m so grateful for the support that the Club has shown us. As a squad, we were desperate to pay that back and hopefully we can do that at Franklin’s Gardens in two weeks’ time.”
