Player biography

One of the most exciting young centres in the country, Joe Marchant debuted for Harlequins in the 2014/15 season. Since then, he has gone on to make 80 appearances for the Club.

Marchant joined the Harlequins Academy for the 2014/15 season on a part-time basis while finishing his final year of studies at Peter Symonds College, Winchester.

He went onto represent England U18 in their 2014 European Championship-winning campaign and was also part of the England squad that won the 2016 U20 Rugby World Championship. He was later called up to Eddie Jones' wider training squad for England's summer tour to Argentina in 2017.

In 2018/19, Marchant was Harlequins' leading try-scorer in all competitions (14) and the runner-up in the overall Gallagher Premiership leaderboard (11). His most memorable score came against Saracens at The Stoop in Round 6 of the competition, where he acrobatically gathered a wayward penalty kick from Fly-half Marcus Smith to dot down under the posts. This was subseqently voted as the DHL Moment of the Year at the Club's End of Season Awards ceremony.

At the conclusion of the season, Marchant was selected alongside Smith and Alex Dombrandt for England's Quilter Cup match against the Barbarians at Twickenham Stadium.
