Player biography


For Marcus Smith 2017/18 was something of a breakthrough year and he was rewarded with an incredible hat-trick of prizes at the end-of-season awards.

Smith was named IG Players' Player of the Season, adidas Supporters' Player of the Season and the Nick Duncombe Young Player of the Season.

He enjoyed an exceptional season in the quartered shirt, scoring 179 points in 26 appearances including accomplished performances away to Wasps and at Big Game 10 in front of more than 77,500 supporters.

The fly-half was included in Eddie Jones' England training squad for the Autumn Internationals and Six Nations as well as being nominated for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year, winning Young Sportsman of the Year at the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSA). He travelled to France for the World U20 Championship in the summer where England reached the final and narrowly lost to the hosts.
